Hamish Lawrie 1919 – 1987
Lawrie was born in Dunfermline Scotland and studied at Gray’s School of Art, Aberdeen.
In 1941 he joined the film industry as a cameraman. His friend and fellow artist JD Ferguson encouraged him to go to France and he lived at St Paul de Venice for nine years. In 1960 he returned to Scotland and painted the western Highlands and Outer Hebrides.
