William Lakin Turner 1867 – 1936
Son of the well known painter George Turner (1843-1910), William Lakin Turner first studied under his father along with Louis Bosworth Hurt (1856-1929). He is well know for his landscape paintings of Lake District, Scottish and Welsh scenes.
William Lakin Turner presented his works at several important exhibitions. He exhibited hundreds of paintings including fourteen at the Royal Academy of Artists , four at the Royal Hibernian Academy in Dublin and six at Birmingham . Between 1905 and 1936, he exhibited more than 350 paintings at the Lake Artists Summer Exhibition , as well as eighty-one works at Nottingham Castle . Some of his works are now on display at the museums of Nottingham , Nuneaton in Warwickshire , Derby and at the Ruskin Museum in Coniston
