William Robson 1868- 1952
Born Edinburgh , son of Earl Sinclair. Robson trained at the Edinburgh School of art and at in Paris at the Julian’s School. Robson settled in Capri in 1888 where he met with an international group of artists among them Fabbi, Castalanetta, James Charles and Harold Speed before traveling through further parts of Europe returning to Edinburgh in 1900. He exhibited regularly and became president of the S.S.A
In 1904 he moved to Kirkcudbright where he came to know Hornell and other artists in the area , his painting style developed with their Scottish influence
