Archibald David Reid
Archibald David Reid 1844-1908 RSW, ARSA, ROI
Born in Aberdeen brother of Sir George Reid and of Samuel Reid, studied RSA and in Paris. Travelled in Europe painting architecture, rivers and pastoral scenes especially in Holland, Northern France, Spain and Venice. Influenced by the Dutch School, his watercolours are well composed restrained in colour.
Exhibited at the RA from 1872, RSA, and RSW.
