Herbert Royle (1870-1958)
Royle was a British landscape painter, born in Lancashire. He trained at the Harris Institute , Southport school of art under John William Buxton Knight. He was a member of the Manchester Academy of fine arts, Liverpool academy and Sandon studios society.
Works by Royle have been exhibited in many prestigious galleries, from 1894 Royle exhibited annually at the Royal Academy for almost fifty years. From 1900 he exhibited at the Royal Scottish Academy, the Glasgow Institute and at the Royal Society of Painters in Oils.
