Mairi Aitken
Mairi Aitken graduated in drawing and painting from The Glasgow School of Art. After which she gained a teaching certificate from Jordanhill College of education and went on teach in a number of schools.
She regularly exhibits and is past President of the Glasgow Society of Women Artists. She s also a member of the Paisley Art Institute where she won the Arnold Clark award in 1997. Other awards gained by Aitken include the East Dunbartonshire Council Purchase prize I 1997 & 1998 the Strathkelvin Council Purchase prize in 1996 the John Green Fine Art prize (2000) William Grant & Son Charitable Trust Award (2001) and in the same year she gained the Paisley Art Institute award fro the “small work” chosen by the public.
